The internet is much maligned and frequently viewed as the root of all contemporary evils yet, used intelligently and efficiently, it can offer businesses an unmatched opportunity to engage in online networking.

With this in mind CCG Costa Consulting's Laura Stanbridge has set up a discussion group on popular business networking site, LinkedIn. Entitled Marbella Open City, this new initiative has already proved popular with local LinkedIn members.

The central idea is to allow Marbella residents a platform from which they can debate topical issues such as town planning, the local economy, property sector issues and updates on communications. Marbella Open City already has nearly 100 members in the first few weeks of its existence, with business leaders, professionals and well-informed residents engaging in debate. One of the most popular topics at the moment is the forthcoming Business Fair, taking place in October.

Laura Stanbridge says, "The business fair will be an opportunity to further foreign integration of the business community in Marbella as it will bring together both Spanish and foreign entrepreneurs for the first time. We are exploring a host of activities to bring the talents of all of our various communities together so the event can benefit both individuals as well as the local economy."
